Production of Need for Speed movie is going forward in a high pace moving from one location to next. This time they were in Rome, Georgia and the surrounding area like Myrtle Hill Cemetery and Cave Spring Road. Production crew and the actors were pleasently surprised with the locations.
"It’s a beautiful landscape. I’ll tell you, originally, when we signed up for the job we all thought we were going to Italy," Cooper joked.
Visual effects supervisor Kevin Baillie said, "We didn’t know what to expect when we came to Rome but, looking around, everything’s so beautiful with the rolling hills. And the cemetery we’re shooting in is so unique and hilly and oddly peaceful."
Producer Pat O’Brien, said the film’s plot is largely confidential, but the concept is based on a video game.
"The video game Need for Speed has been out for 19 years and people wanted to make a movie on it for a long, long time," he said. "We really had to wait until we found the right story, the right director, the right ensemble group of actors and we finally found it here."
O’Brien said Thursday was the 28th day of shooting the film, most of which has been in Georgia. The crew has filmed in Macon and Atlanta. They’ve also shot in San Francisco and Mendocino, California.
“The final race in the movie takes place in Mendocino,” he said.
